Diploma thesis standards

Studies at the Faculty of Chemistry shall conclude with the defence of a diploma thesis, which:

  • is an independent thesis, supervised by a supervisor,
  • is subject to anti-plagiarism control,
  • is subject to review,
  • is subject to defence during the diploma examination.

Diploma theses are realised in the last semesters of studies. The diploma thesis may be of a project or research character. The nature and scope of the diploma thesis shall be agreed upon with the supervisor and in accordance with the subject of the thesis.

Requirements for the layout of the diploma thesis

 The diploma thesis should include the following parts:

  • a table of contents,
  • an introduction, including the purpose and scope of the thesis,
  • entitled chapters and subchapters,
  • a summary and/or conclusions,
  • a literature list,
  • numbered annexes (if required)
  • numbered figures (folded as for filing in a folder)

Archival requirements for the thesis

  • The thesis should be printed on both sides
  • Font: 12, Times New Roman
  • Single line spacing
  • Text aligned to the right and left
  • Margins: left 3.5 cm, right 2 cm, top 2.5 cm, bottom 2.5 cm
  • Title page in accordance with the relevant print template included in the University's Visual Identification System
  • The archived version (submitted to the Dean's Office) should be pre-punched and bound with string!
