Diploma Process

Step-by-step diploma process:

  1. Selection of the thesis topic and enrolment in the thesis course.
  2. Students are required to select a thesis topic before the start of the diploma stage(s). A list of thesis topics is posted in the APD (Archive of Diploma Theses) system. Selection and enrolment take place according to the procedure announced by the Dean on the Faculty website in the "Dean's Word". The supervisor (promoter) of the thesis decides about the student's admission to complete his/her chosen thesis topic.
  3. Completion of the diploma thesis
In the course of the diploma cycle, the diploma student, in cooperation with the supervisor (thesis promoter), realises the objectives of the diploma thesis. The results of his/her work are presented by the student during the Diploma Seminar.
  4. Submitting diploma thesis to a supervisor (promoter).
On a date designated by a supervisor (promoter), a diploma student submits a complete and properly formatted diploma thesis to a supervisor for approval, in a form required by a supervisor as agreed at the beginning of a semester (files, printout, etc.). After reviewing the thesis, the supervisor shall accept, reject or return the thesis to the graduate for correction.
  5. Anti-plagiarism control and APD
Within the deadline set by the Dean of the Faculty, the diploma student fills in the thesis data on his/her own and enters the thesis file into the APD system. The supervisor (promoter), in the case of approval of the entered version of the diploma thesis, refers it to an anti-plagiarism control. On the basis of its results, the supervisor (promoter) shall ascertain whether the student has carried out the diploma thesis independently or not.
  6. Evaluation of the diploma paper
The supervisor of the diploma thesis (promoter) accepts the results of the anti-plagiarism control and, establishing the independent execution of the diploma thesis, prepares in the APD system an opinion (review) together with the grade for the diploma thesis and then passes the diploma thesis to the reviewer who prepares a review with the grade (APD). Both opinions, once approved, are visible to the diploma student in the APD system. If the thesis is found to be unreliable, it remains unaccepted and is referred for improvement according to the procedure in force.
  7. Diploma thesis evaluation
The supervisor of the diploma thesis (promoter) is obliged to give the grade for the Diploma Thesis or Diploma Thesis II only after the diploma thesis has received two positive grades from the promoter and the reviewer. The grades in the promoter's and reviewer's opinions as well as the grade for the Diploma Thesis/ Diploma Thesis II course do not have to be identical.
  8. Submitting the diploma thesis to the Dean's Office.
By the date set by the Dean (the graduation process timetable  the diploma student submits the finished diploma thesis to the Dean's Office together with all required documents. The documents and diploma thesis should be prepared according to the guidelines included in the conditions for taking the diploma examination.
  9. Diploma examination
After submitting the diploma thesis (together with all the required documents) and on condition of completing the study programme, the diploma student is assigned a date for the diploma examination. The date is given to the student during the submission of the defence documents.
